How much does physical therapy cost?

Costs for physical therapy vary greatly depending on your diagnosis and customized physical therapy plan. Factors like the number of visits needed to achieve your health and wellness goals impact the total cost of your care. Because each patient’s treatment plan is unique, so is the total cost.

Does CoachAmyPT take my insurance?

CoachAmyPT accepts and files for most Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance plans. To avoid surprises on your bill, it is essential to understand the details of your Blue Cross Blue Shield plan before making an appointment.

Patients without Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance can opt for self-pay.

CoachAmyPT is not in network with Medicare. Medicare regulations allow Medicare patients to opt into self-pay physical therapy for wellness services only. Wellness services cannot be submitted to Medicare for reimbursement.

What services are not typically covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield?

  • Dry needling

  • High-intensity laser therapy

  • Run form evaluation

  • Coaching

What are my options if insurance does not cover the physical therapy services I need?

Many CoachAmyPT patients opt into self-pay if their insurance does not cover some or all of the services they need to meet their health and wellness goals.

Self-pay is paying out of pocket without submitting claims to insurance. Learn about cost savings, tax deductions and other benefits of self-pay.

Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) funds can be used for many self-pay services.

Essential Pre-Care
Questions for Your Provider

Before incurring costs, contact your insurance provider. Confirm your insurance plan’s coverage for physical therapy costs before you book an appointment.

  1. Do I need to meet a deductible before physical therapy costs are covered?

  2. What is my co-pay for physical therapy services?

  3. Does my plan limit the total amount of costs covered for physical therapy? Total number of sessions covered?

Patient
Responsibility

Unfortunately, we cannot predict the amount you may owe for services covered by insurance. Each plan has a unique set of variables that impact patient costs differently depending on your coverage.

CoachAmyPT does not provide quotes or guarantees for insured patients. Good faith estimates are available but vary based on different costs for different services, number of visits, and if patients have met their deductible or owe a copay/coinsurance. It is your responsibility to be aware of your coverage.

If you need help after contacting your insurance provider, our billing specialist can provide a general idea of typical evaluation or treatment session costs.

Your out-of-pocket costs
while covered by BCBS

Patients covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield receive bills and are responsible for payment when:

  • Deductibles have not yet been reached

  • Coinsurance or copay balances are part of their plan

  • They have reached the maximum number of covered PT visits for the year

  • They receive non-covered, out-of-pocket services, such as dry needling or high-intensity laser therapy

  • They incur a no-show or late cancellation fee
